• Transgaz offers to increase gas exports in bid to end EU antitrust case

Romanian state-owned gas pipeline operator Transgaz has offered to increase export capacities at interconnection points with Hungary and Bulgaria in a bid to end an EU antitrust investigation, the European Commission said on Friday.

The move by the company came after the EU enforcer opened a probe last year on concerns that Transgaz may be hindering gas exports to other EU countries, a move which could result in a hefty fine for the company for breaching EU antitrust rules.

The Commission said Transgaz has committed to ensuring no discrimination between export and domestic tariffs and would not otherwise hamper exports as part of its proposed measures.

These commitments would remain in force until the end of 2025.

It said third parties have four weeks to provide feedback on Transgaz’s offer.  Malcom Brown Jersey
