The civil aviation minister and defence minister will visit Jodhpur to lay the foundation stone of the first phase of expansion work of Jodhpur Civil Airport, which will begin by the end of this month.
Besides, they will also inaugurate the Instrumental Landing System (ILS) and a 100 KW solar plant installed at the airport. According to the IAF officials, the work of installation of ILS is in progress and would be completed around September 20. Moreover, it is the only airport to have introduced 24 hours free 4G Wi Fi connectivity in state.
Director (Airport) S K Singh, while addressing the advisory committee meeting on Saturday, said the first phase of the expansion work, which would begin by end of this month, would comprise construction of apron, parking and taxi link from runway to the apron at a cost of Rs 36 crore.
“With the expansion, the parking capacity will be enhanced to 9 aircraft from the existing 3. Also the car parking, which has current capacity of a meagre 70, would shoot up to 500,” said Singh, adding that this would be the second multilevel car parking in entire North India after New Delhi.
Referring to the issue of bringing more flights to Jodhpur, MP (Jodhpur) Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that many airline companies have expressed interest in operating from Jodhpur but all of them have been waiting for the installation of ILS. Filip Chytil Womens Jersey
